An update posted to the Team Fortress 2 blog teases “something brand new” for Vavle’s free-to-play online shooter. No word yet on what it is, but Valve did say it wasn’t a hat, and it wasn’t a new map. Could it be a new class? A new layer to its microtransaction system? Gordon Freeman? Err, sorry about that last guess, I just really miss Half-Life.
Team Fortress 2 was originally released way back in 2007 alongside Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Portal. In the years since, Valve has almost completed its “Meet the Team” video series, which will wrap up with the Pyro video sometime soon.
Valve’s two upcoming games, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, are currently in closed beta testing. If you have fond memories of headshotting CTs on Dust, check out how the classic map has changed from 1.6 to GO.
